Virgin River is a show that was created by the famous producer and director, Tony Krantz. It follows the story of a family who has to deal with tragedy when their daughter is kidnapped in an Indian casino raid. The family decides to move away from Las Vegas for good after this event, buying up land and building a town on the virgin river. This drama series will be coming back for its sixth season soon!

The writing and development of Virgin River began in 1996 when the original idea was first pitched to CBS. The show revolves around a family who moves away from Las Vegas after their daughter is kidnapped during an Indian casino raid. They buy up land and build a town on the virgin river, which came about as they tried to escape their past problems with a gambling addiction that took over them before this event happened.

Characters:

This season will see some new faces coming into the cast such as Megan Ketch (played by Lacey Chabert) and her three children; Emily, Harrison, and Lucas. She’s married to Tommy Greybear whose character has been played by Oliver Hudson so far all through the previous seasons of Virgin River. There are many other characters coming into the show with some great storylines and twists to keep you entertained.

Mackenzie Dawson as Nicole Gilbert – Family Doctor and Daughter of deceased Dr Robert Gilbert III – Lacey Chabert as Megan Ketch – Tommy Greybear’s Wife and Nurse Practitioner from LA; wife to Oliver Hudson who plays Tommy Greybear for all previous seasons – Emily Honeycutt played by Frankie Shaw – A world traveller returning to run an apple farm inherited from her estranged Aunt Lilly (Shirley Knight)

John Carroll Lynch as Sheriff Fred Marsden – Nicole’s boss and father figure; widower of Mary Beth (Dinah Manoff), who died in Season One. The show is set at the fictional Virgin River, a small town in Oregon where everyone knows each other’s business but newcomers are warmly welcomed.

Plot:

A family moves away from the city to a small town called Virgin River which is divided into two counties. The show follows their new life there with storylines about medicine, farming, law enforcement among others. A few characters have been developed so far such as Dr Robert Gilbert III and his daughter Nicole Gilbert played by Laura Prepon. Other relationships that will be seen on screen include Tommy Greybear and his girlfriend, Hailey Linden and Jack Swift with her daughter Sophie.

The show is a mix of drama and comedy which has been described as “a soap opera without the nonsense”. Each episode will have guest stars who come in to play different roles in these small-town lives, like Melissa Gilbert, John Schneider or Deborah Stephens from General Hospital.
