What Would Season 2 of “The Boys” Be Like?

the boys season 2

It’s finally here! Season 2 of the critically acclaimed series “The Boys” is set to come out on July 26th, 2019. The first season was a huge success, with eight Emmy nominations and an astounding 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. This article will discuss the questions we’re all wondering about the second season: What would happen next? Who are the new characters? And what will be happening in this show that follows superheroes who take down corrupt billionaires (think Batman vs Superman)?

This article has been written for our readers with spoilers free in mind so you can enjoy it without any surprise twists or turns.

The Boys season two premieres on July 26, 2019. As the title implies, this article will discuss what might happen next in the second season of “The Boys” and how different it is from other superhero stories like Batman vs Superman.

A new character that was introduced to us briefly at the end of Season One was Annie January; she’s an agent working undercover as a waitress who quickly becomes overwhelmed by her workload and ends up quitting the CIA (which we later learn had more sinister plans for her). She becomes disillusioned with superheroes after they fail to save the life of one bystander and is the one who starts the Boys vigilantism group.

The second season opens with Annie calling out her boss, Clayton, for costing people their lives by having them do his dirty work rather than putting up a fight themselves. They have an argument in which she threatens to go public about what they’re doing if he doesn’t take responsibility and be more proactive himself.

After going off on him, Annie then leaves the CIA headquarters when we next see her; it’s unclear where exactly she goes but I think it would be safe to say that she went back to working at Cafe 57 as a waitress since we never really find out what happened to her after leaving the building (or being taken away).

Later on in the season, Annie has a conversation with the Chief of Staff who tells her that she’s not cut out for the job and should go back to being a waitress. Clearly he doesn’t want someone like Annie around because it would mean more people will find out about their dirty work.

One of the most notable scenes in season one is when Annie has a conversation with Billy and tells him that she’s pregnant. He wants to leave the CIA so they can raise the baby together, but this plan doesn’t seem like it would work out because we never really see what happened to her either.

There are currently no plans for a second season as per EW, although I’m almost positive there will be more seasons coming up soon enough since The Boys was renewed for two additional seasons back in July 2018 (according to Deadline). It appears Season Two could start off right where Season One left off; however, it seems unlikely that any long term shipping on the show would take place before then considering how much story these writers have already told.

Season Two would be the perfect time to explore more of the characters and their backstories. The first season had a lot, but there’s still so much that we don’t know about them! One example is Carla who was only on screen for two episodes before she seemingly disappeared without any explanation at all after Season One ended (except for her being in-custody). We also still need to find out what happened with Annie–I’d love it if they went into detail about how Billy really feels when he finds out she’s pregnant because I’m not sure why he didn’t want to leave CIA work just yet considering his plan doesn’t seem like it’ll work out anyway.

The Boys is the best show on TV right now, and Season Two is a perfect time to explore the characters more.

The Boys is the best show on television at the moment, so it’s only natural that we’d want to see some of our favorite characters in even greater detail than before. While The Boys has done an excellent job establishing these people as individuals with their own backstories and motivations for what they’re doing throughout the course of season one–for example Carla who was only seen for two episodes but still managed to make a lasting impression or Annie whose story might be just starting by how quickly she disappeared from screen after her pregnancy reveal near the end of last season–I’m sure there are many other stories that have yet to be told.

Who is the mysterious man who has been sending money to Annie all these years?

What are his motivations for doing so and how does he know Carla or Annie personally?

Why did Billy refuse a job with The Seven’s recruiter, Royce (played by John Malkovich)?

Has the Boys’ former handler from CIA Jimmy given up on them as they have seemingly given up on themselves since getting out of jail last season?

These are just some of the questions that come to mind when thinking about what direction this show could go in Season Two. It will be interesting to see if there’s an overarching theme like revenge or redemption present within any of these storylines, but no matter what it looks like Season Two will be one to watch.
