What is the plot of Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse?

The official plot summary for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse reads as tracks:

Director Kemp Powers (Soul) has revealed who that powerful enemy is, and it’s a pretty shocking choice. Instead of one of the traditional suspects like Green Goblin or Doc Ock, The Spot (Jason Schwartzman) will be a more obscure B-lister whose ability to fluidly traverse the multiverse will make him a powerful menace. We also know that there will be a wide range of characters there. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the creative pair of The LEGO Movie, announced that there will be a whopping 240 characters and that the tale will take place across six realms, setting up an ambitious endeavor to surpass even that of something as enormous scale.

Who Is Making Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse?

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have established themselves as two of the most well-known and respected names in feature animation, with roles in The LEGO Movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009), The Mitchells vs. the Machines (2021), and others. They return to write and produce Across the Spider-Verse, and while they first intended to accomplish something on the scale of the last film, the sequel has since evolved and grown to include the largest crew for an animated picture ever produced. The film will be directed by a new trio of directors, each with industry expertise, including Joaquim Dos Santos (Avatar: The Last Airbender), Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson (Star Wars: Clone Wars). Dave Callaham, who has previously written for the Marvel cosmos, joins Lord and Miller in the writing department (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings).

When Will the Third Film in the Spider-Verse Trilogy Be Released?

Even though “Part One” is no longer in the title, Across the Spider-Verse will still be the first half of a two-part tale. The sequel, now titled Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, is planned to be released on March 29, 2024, less than a year later, bringing this epic, trailblazing trilogy to a close.
