We’re talking about a real-life Operation Fortune, in which fake businesses are set up with some serious investment backing. A mega-rich individual or institution is willing to back your idea for 100 million dollars. The catch? They want a 4% stake in the company, but they’ll likely ask for more than this from you personally down the road if your company turns out to be successful (in other words, it’s not just enough money).

Operation Fortune Production
Marn Davies (as a Writer on the feature film The Gentlemen) and Ritchie wrote the script. Miramax produced the film, which will be distributed by STXfilms. Aubrey Plaza joined the cast in December of the same year. Cary Elwes, Bugzy Malone, and Josh Hartnett joined the ensemble as supporting actors in January 2021. Hugh Grant joins the cast in February 2021.
Principal photography began on January 14, 2021, with locations including Antalya, Turkey, Farnborough, and Qatar.
In September 2021, the film was officially dubbed Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre after being known as Five Eyes.

STX Entertainment had planned to release Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre. It was supposed to be released on January 21, 2022, and March 18, 2022. The studio removed the film from the release schedule on February 18, 2022, with no explanation. [15] According to reports, the picture was banned from theatres not because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but because it had gangsters of Ukrainian origin as the main antagonist Greg Simmonds’ henchmen. The film’s makers decided it would be inappropriate to present “Ukrainian baddies” in light of the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War, which has sparked global indignation. During STX’s restructuring in November 2022, it was claimed that the film will likely be distributed domestically through a streaming service, with international distributors premiering the film theatrically in January 2023.
What became “Operation Fortune”?
Is anyone aware of the fate of this film (Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre)? It was supposed to be released by the end of January, but it was pushed back to mid-March before being dropped entirely from the plan (at least in Europe). I can’t seem to discover any information about it now.
It appears strange to me that a Guy Ritchie project with a star-studded cast vanishes into thin air with no response from the studio.
