Insidious 5

Insidious is one of the greatest horror franchises of modern theater. The original flick explored the Lambert family, with the child Dalton suffering from a supernatural danger, that his father (Patrick Wilson) similarly faced in his boyhood.

Now the film is on its fifth iteration and has come back its focus to the Lambert family, with Patrick Wilson now after the camera as well as in act of it, as this choice is his directorial launch. Scott Teems – known for his work on Halloween Kills – has written the screenplay.

Unlike most franchises that dwindle as they go ahead, love for the Insidious films remains preferably strong. This is despite the most recent flick, Insidious: The Last Key, being the worst reviewed – it was still the most profitable, with 168 million worldwide. So for those interested fans, here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming fifth flick.

The Insidious 5 release date: When is the flick coming out?

Insidious 5 – titled Insidious: Fear the Dark – will premiere in theaters on July 7, 2023.

Shooting wrapped in August 2022, so things seem on way for this release date. Wilson posted on his Instagram to commemorate the shooting having been completed.

In a new discussion with The Hollywood Reporter, producer James Wan honored Wilson’s work as a leader.

“Well, we all love Patrick star(Fictional character)… one of the something I love best around performing with Patrick Wilson is that we do not honestly talk about the flick that we are completing on set. We geek out about all the films that we loved boosting up because Patrick and I are rough of the same generation.

Insidious 5 plot summary – What’s it about?

If you know nothing of the series, as is highly likely, a family undergoes a downward spiral as they are tormented by a dark entity that challenges them to take on increasingly terrible and nightmarish battles. The sixth flick will be following this formula, which will hopefully be improved upon as they have mastered the art of horror successfully. Insidious 5 cast – Who is in the movie?

The original film starred Patrick Wilson as father Lambert, while Rose Byrne was an effective Lambert wife. Sadly, Byrne hasn’t been involved in any of the films since 2013. Given that this will be Wilson’s directorial debut – and he also starred as Lambert in all five installments – it would be right to expect him to return for his reprise of the character. The Hollywood Reporter has stated that he will be joined by Brianna Hildebrand and Leigh Whannell, the writing duo behind the Paranormal Activity franchise. The latter also starred in the original Insidious film, while Hildebrand’s most notable role was as Negasonic Teenage Warhead in Deadpool.

Cast:

  • Patrick Wilson (Josh Lambert)
  • Ty Simpkins (Dalton Lambert)
  • Rose Byrne (Renai Lambert)
  • Andrew Astor
  • Barbara Hershey
  • AJ Dyer
  • Sinclair Daniel
  • Lin Shaye

Insidious 5 trailer – When will it be out?

Franchises like this rarely fail to disappoint. With the production just starting and no release date announced, we should expect a teaser soon. The Last Key came out with a trailer about 7-8 months before its release, so if there’s anything similar here we may get our first sneak peek at the fifth installment around October 2020 to January 2022.

Insidious 5 behind the scenes – Who’s involved?

The original film was directed by James Wan and Leigh Whannell, both of whom will be back to take on these roles once again. Getting the two of them back means that fans can rely on getting a good scare, especially with Whannell writing it. He also starred as Specs in the first two films and is said to appear in this one. These three will be joined by Jason Blum (The Purge series, Paranormal Activity). Blum is slated to produce, along with Oren Peli (Paranormal Activity) and Steven Schneider (Insidious).
