VLSI Design

The full name of VLSI design is “Very Large Scale Integration”. VLSI design is used to design the ICs or Integrated Circuits in electronic devices. VLSI was introduced in the 1970s by combining metal oxide silicon transistors. The technology was used to provide several transistors into a single chip.

VLSI designs can be found in memory cards, set-top boxes, and cell phones, and these devices consist of billions of transistors in a single chip. In modern electronic devices, the VLSI system is considered a revolutionary system. Using this system, the designer can create the most effective and attractive modern designs without worrying about their size and production cost.

VLSI design is a technological course that is similar to the Post-Graduate course in technology. The VLSI program offers students degrees including M.Tech In VLSI Design, M.Tech In VLSI Design And Technology, PG Diploma In VLSI Design, PG Certificate In VLSI Design, M.Sc. in VLSI Design, M.E. in VLSI Design, And Technology.

Details of the Foundation course in VLSI Design

The B.Tech in VLSI Design is a bachelor’s course in VLSI designing, and it needs four years to complete the course. The minimum qualification to be eligible for the B.Tech course is 10+2 with any specialisation. The students must appear in the entrance test and get at least above the minimum cut-off to be eligible for the course.

The M.Tech in Foundation course in VLSI Design is a master’s course in VLSI designing. The master’s course has a tenure of two years. The minimum qualification to get admitted to the course is a bachelor’s degree in technical education. If the student wants to be admitted to this course has to score above the minimum cut-off in the entrance test scheduled according to the responsible authority.

The entrance exams for getting admitted to the course are JEE MAIN, BITSAT, GATE, and JEE ADVANCED. The average course fee for the VLSI design course programs may cost approximately Rs 30000 to Rs 5 lakhs.

After completing the course, the students will get several career opportunities, including Electronics and Communications Consultant, Network Planning Engineer, Customer Support Engineer, Field Test Engineer, Technical Director, Lecturer, Senior Sales Manager, and Database Administrator. The average annual salary of a VLSI professional may start from a minimum of 5 lakhs p.a.

Eligibility of the VLSI courses

To get admitted to the VLSI Design course, a student must meet the basic standards of the course.

In the case of UG courses, the student must score a minimum of 50% marks in the last secondary level exam from a recognised board. According to the Ite protocol Stack Development Training, the candidates having a valid entrance examination score will be exempted from the B. Tech entrance exam. JEE Main and JEE Advanced are the top entrance exams for admission to the UG VLSI Design course.

On the other hand, students seeking admission to the PG course for VLSI Design must have degrees like B.E or B.Tech in IT Engineering, Electronics Engineering, CS Engineering, IC Engineering, and Electrical Engineering. The top entrance test examinations for PG courses are BITSAT and GATE.

Final Words

Thus, students have a bright career opportunity after completing a VLSI Design course from a reputed technological institute. However, the students must also be eligible and score above the minimum cut-off marks to get admitted to these courses.
