Home Before Dark will air on Fox International Channels (FIC) for viewers throughout Asia, Africa, Latin/South America and Europe with subtitles available in 15 languages including Arabic to reach more than 500 million households across the globe. Why did Jordi McCallister take his brother Mikey south when he knew everyone was heading north?
This question has been asked by many; in the first season, and viewers will find out in Home Before Dark Season Two!
This is a complex question. Mikey was already south when Jordi decided to head down south too; so he had little choice but to take him along with him on his quest for good weather. It’s also complicated by their history of being abandoned as children; they’ve never been able to be alone because both were always providing some sort of care for each other. For this reason, it becomes clear that Jordi took up hunting as a way not only to provide food; but also to have an independent activity where he doesn’t need help from anyone else. Including his brother; who would normally want to join in and share every moment like they used to do before adolescence set in.
We also see Mikey’s frustration; when Jordi won’t talk to him about what he found out in Home Before Dark Season Two! the valley of death. In this scene, we can see that they’ve grown even further apart; as adults and no longer share anything with each other. Their interactions are cold, forced, unemotional; it feels like a business transaction more than two brothers talking to one another. This is a very sobering moment for both boys; because it means they may not be able to find their way back to each other again; or get closer now that there really isn’t much left between them.
