Reviews:

The BBC says “Gangs Of London Season One might have been one of the best TV shows in years.” They think that this next season promises to be just as great because they are following three gangs from different areas all over London with their own unique stories. Another review said, “Gang Wars has proved an addictive yet unrelenting drama.” We know how others feel about our favorite show too!

“Gangs of London is an addictive show with all the right ingredients. It has a gripping story, great acting, and enough violence to keep you on your toes.”

“It’s fast-paced entertainment that keeps viewers guessing until the very end.”

BTS:

The first season of “Gangs of London” was broadcast on Channel Four in September 2017, with the last episode aired in December that year. It became a success for the channel and garnered an average viewership of three million viewers across each week’s five episodes. By October 2018 it had been confirmed by its creators that there would be a second series to air later this year. Filming began at various locations around London during 2019 including Ilford, Bow, Stratford, Walthamstow Nine Elms Bank station among others between March-April 2019 under directors Joe Ahearne and Colin Barr.

Releasing updates:

The second series will consist of six episodes, with filming taking place between February-May 2019.

On the 12th of February, it was announced that “Gangs of London” would be returning for a second season on Channel Four in 2020 starring Mo Metcalfe and Sope Dirisu – two new cast members.

In August 2018, average viewership of three million viewers across each week’s five episodes was reported during its first season according to BARB (Broadcasters Audience Research Board). The show has been well received by fans and critics alike since airing, with many praising how accurate the portrayal is given such a sensitive subject matter as gang violence. In October 2018 after announcing there would be a sequel due out this year, the season was confirmed to be six episodes.

The series is a gritty drama that explores what it’s like for young people growing up in inner-city London as they’re drawn into gang culture and violence, with storylines based on real-life testimonies from police officers who have seen first-hand how this subculture can take root in their communities.

Filming of Season one began at the end of February 2018 and continued until May that year over an eight-week period. The crew shot around 300 hours during production – five days per episode – making it Channel Four’s longest single shot ever recorded by Britain’s biggest public service broadcaster.

Ratings:

Ratings for Season one averaged around 400,000 viewers per episode.

The first six episodes of the series were released on Channel Four’s all-for-one service in May 2018 and all made available to stream via Facebook Watch

Channel Four is yet to announce a release date for season two but it won’t be out until 2020.

We are expecting that we will see more young people from other areas of London such as Hackney, Croydon, or Waltham Forest come into view with stories about their lives growing up in these districts which have been traditionally seen as less problematic than Brixton or Tottenham. The show may also feature a wider cast this time around seeing how gangs can still exist outside of the inner city.
