Cobra Kai Season 3 Review: Casting, Rating & Release Date Updates

This is a preview of the upcoming Cobra Kai season 3. In this article, we will be discussing cast, rating, and release date updates for the show.

Cobra Kai Season 3 CAST 2

Cast includes:

Ralph Macchio, William Zabka, Tanner Buchanan

Premiere:

Maintaining the momentum of season two, Cobra Kai is back with a third installment. The show has been renewed for another eight episodes that will premiere on Youtube Red in 2020.

Story-line:

The first episode of this batch brings back Johnny Lawrence and Miguel Diaz from last year’s finale to face off against each other once again as they develop their own karate schools after seeing how much money there was to be made teaching martial arts. Between these scenes, we see John Kreese who wants nothing more than revenge against any student or teacher associated with his old school. But he also finds time for something new: remarriage! His second wife gets her own storyline which shows she’s not going down without a fight despite being faced with an uphill battle.

The episode also gives us a brief back story of how John Kreese became the karate teacher he is today and we see that old wounds are still there as his former student, Terry Silver tries to use him for his own gain by making it seem like they’re friends again but in reality was just using him to get what he wants. When all else fails, Johnny Lawrence and Miguel Diaz have an epic showdown at the end of the first episode with both men victorious even though one had more skill than the other (spoiler alert: It’s not who you think!).

There were some changes made this season including more direction for Daniel LaRusso which has been good so far because after three episodes I found myself unsure of what his character was supposed to be. This season, Daniel can’t seem to find peace and it’s clear he blames himself for the death of Samantha LaRusso because she died in a car accident that was caused by him speeding when trying to get her home from work after she had fallen asleep at the wheel. In episode two we see Johnny Lawrence is also struggling with life as well where he meets up with Miguel Diaz who helps reconnect him using drugs (spoiler alert: It doesn’t end well).

Johnny has an interesting character arc this season which I feel will lead us into several more seasons but let me know if you agree or disagree!

Rating:

Release Date:

May 29th, 2018 on YouTube Red.

Review:

Johnny Lawrence’s character arc this season is one that I think will lead us into more seasons as he continues to try and find peace after the death of Samantha LaRusso in a car accident which was caused by him speeding when trying to get her home from work because she had fallen asleep at the wheel. We also learn about Miguel Diaz who helps Johnny reconnect using drugs (spoiler alert– it doesn’t end well). Ralph Macchio stars as Daniel Laruso while William Zabka plays his opponent Johnny Lawrence but we don’t know if either actor has special needs!

The conclusion of Cobra Kai Season Three:

Cobra Kai Season three is off to a great start so far and I’m excited to see how it all plays out.

It is hard to say what will happen next season but I’m excited to see it all play out. The show doesn’t answer every question that aired this past season, like if Johnny has special needs or not and if Daniel Laruso does too! But overall the third series was a great success with some bad moments in between– which is as realistic as any other TV show.

I give the series an A+ for actors, C- for plot twists (sometimes they were predictable), and B- for realism level: meaning by giving it one more episode per week would have made it seem even more real than just watching on Fridays only).
