The latest season of The Last Kingdom is finally here, and I couldn’t be more excited. This article will provide a review of the 4th season including cast, release date, and my thoughts on the show so far. Premiere updates:
The date of release is set for the 25th of January 2019. This season will be shortened to six episodes, which may disappoint some viewers but I think it’s better this way than have one drawn out over ten or more.
Cast details and performance:
Alexander Ludwig as Uhtred
This is the first season in which he’s starred and I’m really happy with his performance. Five Stars out of five stars possible
Emily Cox as Brida
She seems to like my favorite female character. There’s something about her sarcastic and witty personality that I enjoy
Ian Hart as Father Berocca
He always seemed like a nice guy, but in this season he comes across as more of an antagonist than anything else. I’m not too sure how to feel about him now…
The possible release date for Season Five?
I would love to know when the next season is coming out because it was so hard waiting between seasons! The wait feels even worse if you read Aethelred on Netflix or Hulu-it makes me want to see what will happen with Uhtred all the sooner!
Will there be another season?
I hope so-I’ll miss Uhtred if he doesn’t come back… If you watch this show then you know that King Alfred dies halfway through this season and with that, I’m curious to see how they’ll make him come back for season five.
Best Character:
Wulfgar because he has a good sense of humor and he’s not afraid to speak his mind! He also seems like the most sensible character in the show-just take one look at that beard!
Will there be another series after the last Kingdom?

The series has such a rich and complex history that I really want to see more of it, but the final season ends with Uhtred being crowned King in Wessex!
My thoughts so far:
I love how they are connecting the storylines from seasons two and three to this new one. It’s intriguing seeing different perspectives of events that transpired in season three, like not knowing which family took Alfred for ransom on his wedding day! One thing I didn’t enjoy was how many cliffhangers there were at the end of each episode, it felt too much like a soap opera… Other than that The Last Kingdom is still as epic and entertaining as ever.
Best Character:
Uhtred has been my favorite character since the start but Aethelwulf has really grown on me this time around; he seriously needs more screen time!
Worst Episode:
“The Greatest Enemy” (episode six) had the most violent and upsetting scenes in all of series four.
Best Episode:
“The Greatest Enemy” (episode six) was my favorite, it had me on the edge of my seat the whole time! It’s not just because of how tense it is but also for a great plot twist at the end; I never saw that one coming.

The Last Kingdom Season Four has been incredible so far and I can’t wait to see what happens next! Five Stars out of five stars possible
