The OA SEASON 3

The Netflix series The OA is back, and you’re probably wondering what to expect from the third season. We’ve got a quick review of what happened in Season 2 and some important details about when Season 3 will premiere on Netflix.

What is the series about:

The Netflix series The OA is back, and you’re probably wondering what to expect from the third season. We’ve got a quick review of what happened in Season two (spoilers ahead!) and some important details about when Season three will premiere on Netflix.

How interesting the story is…

The series follows a young woman named Prairie who is kidnapped from her home in Nebraska and taken to an abandoned building, where she’s held captive for seven years. Upon escape, she tells the story of what happened during those missing years–revealing some powerful truths about reality that will change your perspective on everything you know.

Season two picks up with Prairie returning home after being gone for five months. She reunites with Steve (who has been living at her house) and helps him find his family again; also trying unsuccessfully to reconnect with Homer – who now knows he was adopted by one of Mrs. Havershams distant relatives- but gets help finding out more information about them instead of through social media posts when it became apparent how much she really has changed. Prairie also continues to look for a way back to Homer in the “real” world and ends up being recruited by HAPA (a radical group of scientists who study near-death experiences) with no knowledge that they are part of NDEs.

Prairie is then kidnapped from her own home and taken to an abandoned building, where she’s held captive for seven years. Upon escape, she tells the story of what happened during those missing years–revealing some powerful truths about reality that will change your perspective on everything you know.”

When we left off: Season two picks up with Prairie returning home after being gone for five months. She reunites with Steve (who has been living in her house) and is immediately hit with a whole new set of challenges.

What’s up next:

Season three picks up after Prairie has been gone for seven years, but the series still follows what happens to her in that time. She escapes captivity and tells people about some powerful truths she learns during those missing years–revealing an understanding of reality that changes everything we know about life.”

One more thing:

The show stars Brit Marling as OA (aka NDE-er), who travels through dimensions into other realities while trying to escape from HAPA scientists who study near-death experiences, all while looking for Steve back in the “real” world. In these journeys, she encounters many characters – including Homer, whose body she occupies in her quest to find Steve and another cast of characters from other dimensions.

Releasing details:

The OA season three is returning on March 22nd with eight episodes available for streaming on Netflix.

Season one was released on December 16th, 2016 while the second came out July 15th, 2017.

Ratings:

Ratings are not yet available but have been described as “strong” by Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos.

This is Brit Marling’s (also showrunner) first TV series – she has previously starred in films like The East or What Happened to Monday?

Season two ended with a cliffhanger that left us wondering if Prairie had finally found “Steve” ― even though no one was sure who that might be.

Season three will also pick up with Prairie, but now she’s looking for Homer ― and we’ll have to wait until it premieres to find out how their story unfolds.

In the meantime, here’s a recap of what you need to know about season two:

The OA is back in her home dimension after an epic journey through other dimensions where five people were trapped between life and death (and sometimes even both). They had been tortured by Dr. Hunter Aloysius Percy Worship – otherwise known as HAPW – using a machine he calls “the box” or “the room.” In his search for immortality, they became test subjects on the hunt for the “soul eater” (or “deathless man”).

The group’s escape plan was complicated by the sudden and painful death of one member, leaving only four to make their way out. They were finally successful in reaching Prairie’s home dimension – but not without grave consequences.

To save her friends from being lost forever, she had to trade Achilles’ soul with the HAPW on his quest for immortality. Now he is free to find another victim among them while they seek a new solution before it’s too late…
