Netflixs Mindhunter

Netflix’s Mindhunter is a ten-episode series that follows the true story of FBI criminal profilers who use psychology to track serial killers and other violent criminals. The show has become one of Netflix’s most popular original shows, which is why they have renewed it for two more seasons! In this article, we will discuss what you need to know about Season 1, Season 2, and future episodes.

Mindhunter is a gripping crime drama series that explores the methods of criminal profiling. The show follows FBI special agents; Holden Ford, Bill Tench and the rest of their team as they hunt down serial killers in both America’s heartland and across national borders.

Season 1:

Season one starts with Ford and Tench interviewing imprisoned serial murderers to understand how they were caught. They quickly catch onto patterns; like violence escalating over time or when other emotional issues are present in an individual’s life (like childhood abuse). These insights help them build profiles; on active unidentified subjects by using available physical evidence that may be found at future murder scenes.

After six episodes Netflix released two more episodes for season one; called “Mindhunter” which focused on Agent Wendy Carr and her FBI class on profiling serial killers.

Season one ends with Tench being offered the position of Unit Chief in Quantico, Virginia. While Ford chooses to stay at the Investigative Support Unit based out of Chicago.

Season 2:

In season two, Holden is trying to hunt down an unknown subject who has killed several people by posing as a police officer in Rhode Island so he can get close enough to kill them. Meanwhile, Bill is dealing with personal issues back home that are affecting his work life – namely his wife’s terminal cancer diagnosis (she succumbs after episode six). At this same time, Agent Wendy Carr now commands the Criminal Minds unit following her promotion from the assistant special agent in charge under Tench’s supervision during season one. Carr brings the BAU team to her home town of Shreveport, Louisiana where a cult leader is thought to have been embezzling funds for years and maybe killing followers as well.

The cast of Mindhunter:

Jonathan Groff as Holden Ford

Holt McCallany as Bill Tench

Anna Torv as Wendy Carr

Hannah Gross as Debbie Mitford – a criminologist that gets recruited to the FBI and is one of Mindhunter’s new faces. She teaches at Berkeley before she comes on board with Holden for her first case. In real life, this part was played by A&E crime analyst Margo Thomas (who also served in the Behavioral Science Unit).

Cameron Britton as Edmund Kemper; this role doesn’t start until Season Two. But so far we have heard him talk about his cannibalistic mother; and how he killed his grandparents when he was 15 years.

Synopsis:

Mindhunter season two explores; how the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit goes about profiling serial killers; in 1980s America. When they still knew very little about them or their motivations for what they do. And is set to explore this theme more deeply with a new storyline. Holden struggles with his undercover assignment. While Bill faces domestic issues at home that are affecting him personally and professionally; namely his wife’s terminal cancer diagnosis; which she succumbs to after episode six (though it doesn’t seem like he’ll ever get over this). Meanwhile, Agent Wendy Carr now commands the Criminal Minds unit; following her promotion from the Behavioral Science Unit. And she has to put her new job skills; to use when a series of murders are committed by an unknown serial killer in Florida.
