Succession Season 3

Succession is back for a third season, and while the show follows the power struggles in the fictional Roy family, it also provides an interesting insight into real-life politics. The show has been receiving rave reviews from critics and fans alike since it was released on July 10th. Here’s everything you need to know about Succession Season 3!

Succession Season One & Two:

It has been eight months since the sudden death of the patriarch, and CEO Tom Roy. The family is now fighting for control over his company to dominate in this ever-changing global economy. There are four key players during season one – Kendall (Tom’s eldest daughter), Roman (Tom’s son from a previous marriage), Shiv (Kendall’s best friend) and Connor Roy as the new head of Waystar Royco.

The two seasons have explored the power struggle between these four individuals with each episodes focusing on a different member of this dysfunctional family.

Succession was renewed for a third season by HBO in April 2018; it will be released on 24th June 2019.

Plot:

Season three will continue to explore the power struggle between these four individuals with each episode focusing on a different member of this dysfunctional family.

The season’s theme, which was announced by creator Jesse Armstrong in April 2018 is “succession” and how it relates not just to wealth but also ambition, status and responsibility.

Each character has been forced into exile from their old life because they have either lost or are about to lose what matters most – money, influence or love. Succession explores the fallout when one person who rules everything starts getting weaker while another rises up for revenge; alliances form only as long as they’re mutually beneficial; everyone’s version of morality takes shape around self-interest rather than tradition, and the family’s once unbreakable bond starts to crumble.

Succession Season 3 cast

Theme:

Succession Season for 2018 will consist of six episodes, each with its own storyline which is about a different member of this dysfunctional family

There’s no word yet on when it will premiere but we do know that production has been completed so lookout for an announcement soon!

The theme for the season is “succession” – how success or failure affects not just wealth in terms of money but also ambition, status and responsibility

Rumours:

Rumours have swirled around who the next heir to lead and manage the company would be. Some said Kendall Roy (Jeremy Strong) or Connor Roy’s son Carter Durant (Alan Ruck). The answer was revealed in the season two finale – Greg Runckle Jr. (Nicholas Braun). He had moved up from being VP of marketing at Waystar Royco to CEO due to his father’s condition worsening.

Greg has been left in charge of the company by his father and is now CEO. He also inherited a lot from him which he feels “honoured to have”

Spoilers:

Season three ended with Greg and Connor Roy (Brian Cox) fighting over the future of Waystar Royco. The two reached a deal that would allow Gregory to keep his position as CEO but in return, he has to let go of any shares in the company owned by him or his father.

Succession also showed young Connor’s anger at being left out from this important decision about who will be next in line for leadership. He tried to show how powerful he was by seizing control away from Greg and starting an assassination attempt on himself which then forced Kendall into retirement.

Kendall Roy (Jeremy Strong) will be fighting for control over Waystar with Greg; even going so far as to try and sabotage an acquisition; that would have given Runckle Jr. full power at the company – but failed because it was too late.

During season three, Kenadry becomes more ruthless than ever before. And it becomes clear that Kendall Roy’s future doesn’t look very promising.

He was accused of trying to kill his father. And attempted a coup at the company, but failed because Greg stopped him before he could get away with it

When Kenadry refused to sign over control of Waystar Royce Media to Carter Durant (Peter Outerbridge). This led KD into retirement

In season three, Kendall will have no choice but take matters into his own hands; in order to regain power over the company.

 Succession Season Three Plot Summary:

The third season follows Succession after its shocking second season finale. Where Patrick passed away unexpectedly at age 64 following complications during a routine surgery to remove his prostate cancer tumour.
