Derry Girls Season 3

What do you know about Derry Girls? The answer is probably not much! Derry Girls is a comedy series on Channel 4. It follows the lives of four Northern Irish girls in their final year at school. And how they navigate through adolescence with laughter and heart. This season will be its third season, but when does it start? Who knows?! Keep reading for all the details we have so far!

The show was created by Lisa McGee at the age of 18. It gained a cult following and is now widely loved across Ireland, UK, Australia and America!

Season One aired in March 2018 with eight episodes – there will be six more in this season to make it 12 episodes total.

Channel Four has yet to release an official episode date for Derry Girls Season Three. We do know that filming began on October 29th. But we don’t have any idea when they’ll air each one or how many are coming up.

A new cast member joins 17-year-old Rosie Faye from Northern Ireland’s North Coast region which will play “Rosie” who is called ‘Faye’ by her friends.

The plot is still unknown, but the show is set to tackle Brexit and all of its messy consequences for our characters so that should be interesting!

Mental Health Content:

Season one dealt with mental health challenges, but we don’t know if season three will as well yet. Watch this space for updates in December 2019 when the new series airs!

In Derry Girls Season One there were a lot of themes about acceptance – accepting your body image, someone’s identity or sexuality and more which was really important because it showed viewers who are struggling with these things that they’re not alone. It’ll be great to see how much progress has been made on those topics since then because change can happen quickly.

Season 3 Storyline:

In Season Three, there will be a lot more about mental health. It’s really important to make sure that it doesn’t get swept under the rug like it was in the past because we’re at such a crucial point where people are starting to speak out and nothing has been done yet so I think this is going to be an incredible season for change.

We haven’t seen any of Derry Girls Season Three on social media but they’ve shared some photos from behind-the-scenes which means they must have filmed something by now! We know from their Instagram stories before that filming started back up again so we’ll just keep our eyes peeled until then.

Some other bits of info we have:

There’s no release date yet but it will be on Channel Four. The cast is the same as Season Two (which isn’t unusual for a TV show).

In conclusion, we don’t have much information about Derry Girls Season Three so far other than that filming has started back up and there’s no release date set! Stay tuned until then to find out more details and updates from us here at Soapbox Media.
