World war Z was one of the best releases of 2013, and there was no reason to think that a sequel will be a hyperbolic expectation. Since the time it premiered on the screens in 2013, the speculations regarding a sequel was anticipated. The movie was the adaptation of Max Brooks’s book with the same title, which he authored in 2006.
But now a considerable time has elapsed since its release in 2013, and there is no reason to believe that the sequel is even under consideration.
Is the sequel canceled, or there is a word in this regard?
Well, there was a flurry of speculations back in 2013, and fans were hoping to see the sequel in the coming years, but unfortunately, this wait seems to be infinite. At one point, there were talks about the renewal of the film, and it was speculated that the fans could get the movie by 2017. There was no word since then, about the release, and the release seems to be impossible. Many factors ultimately decide the fate of a movie.
The journey of a movie to franchise takes a lot of planning, and there is no reason to believe that the producers wouldn’t have thought about it. There are a plethora of factors that make the journey of a movie to a franchise. Apart from the fan following and the demand for a sequel, there are other factors too which shape the future of a movie. There are commercial aspects which is one of the core reasons which makes the sequel possible.
Although the commercial aspect can’t be a case over here as the movie grossed well on the box office, and if we calculate the global earnings, it made a whopping $540 million. So this couldn’t be a potent reason for not making a sequel. Brad Pitt was in the lead role, and his availability could be one of the reasons for not being able to give continuation to the movie. There are prior commitments of both the production team members and the cast, so unless there isn’t sync between them, it’s tough to imagine that the movie is going to return for a sequel.
The movie was once set to kickstart in 2018, but Brad Pitt’s prior commitments changed a thing for the movie’s future. Brad Pitt had already signed Once upon a time in Hollywood by then, and then there was no chance to return for the sequel. So this was the last known attempt to make the sequel.
